First things first:
My music emerges from experience, not from scene logic.
I respect history without submitting to it.
I use stylistic tools, but I do not reproduce forms.
Genre, for me, is a tool — not a home.
I work with reduction, space, and repetition
because they allow depth — not because they fulfill expectations.
I believe in quality without top-down legitimation.
In collaboration without loyalty tests.
In clarity over ambiguity, dignity over strategy.
I do not confuse art with self-promotion,
nor intimacy with visibility.
What is public is optional.
What happens in the process must be honest.
I am not against scenes —
but I do not make myself dependent on them.
I build contexts, not hierarchies.
I seek coherence, not significance.
My work is directed at people who listen,
not at systems that administer.
If my music resonates, that is enough.
If it does not, it remains true nonetheless.
Biographical spots
Sai real name Kerstin Saidykhan (birth name Kerstin Rosenauer), spun her first DJ sets in the improvised Berlin club scene of the early 2000s. She was heavily inspired by her passion for soundsystem culture, triggered primarily by two trips to Jamaica in the late '90s. This led her to curate a monthly Dub Night in a small Kreuzberg spot, where her own selections (then under the name "Selectress Firestarter") were a blend of Conscious Reggae, UK Heavyweight, and tracks from the Rhythm & Sound hemisphere.
In 2021, she returned to DJing after many years, developing a more introverted, meditative sound as Sai-MLD. Her style now focuses on atmospheric Drone Sounds and melancholic, experimental textures. This fresh start prompted her to go public with the podcast series "Moments of Light ‘n Darkness" (MLD) on SoundCloud, which now features mixes from guest DJs as well and has built a growing followership over the past few years.
In 2025, Sai played live again after more than a decade, hitting spots like the Berlin Dubcafé and Superbooth. Currently, she's focused on evolving her skills as a music producer.
"I am bridging different worlds. In my daily life, I am a teacher, social worker, coach, and therapist. I am employed at a vocational college for social pedagogy with an educational provider in Berlin Neukölln, where I pass on my knowledge to prospective educators who will later work in the social sector, for example in kindergartens or youth residential groups."
"After the Wall fell, I spend many weekends at Berlin‘s growing club scene.
It gave me the space to breathe as a young adult, what I needed at that time."
Growing up in a small town in Western Germany near Hannover and studying social work in Braunschweig (& wrote her thesis about „Techno Culture in Germany“ in 1996 b.t.w.) finally she moved to Berlin in 2001 and came into contact with the rhythm&sound vibe that immediately resonated with her.
It was still the time of small and illegal clubs and improvised venues. In that scene, she had the opportunity to try herself as a DJ for a certain time. But it never worked out on a larger scale and after she became a mother in 2005 she gave up her music activities with a heavy heart and thought, that's it for now.
But then during the pandemic time in 2021 she restarted mixing music again and published her installements on SoundCloud, what was the beginning for a new developement, supported quickly through the attention she recieved from many independant dubtechno artists.
"Dubtechno became a very special role to me caused by its introvert meditative attitude which fits very good to me now in the present time.
So music is much more than entertainment to me and shaped my personality by getting much energy from it.
And this is something, what I want to bring over in my diverse and gengre overarching mixes."
From then until now she shows her way of mixing on many online podcast series such as Space Vieuwx..where she got an invite in 2022 for her first public podcast..then followed by Dubtechno TV, Dubwaves on Proton by Na:tek, Dubbism by Piranha Siberia Dub, Dub Explorations, DJ Sideway's YT Channel and many more and publishes her selection regularly on Soundcloud under the name "Moments Of Light 'n Darkness" (MLD). Recently she started hosting guest mixes from other DJs there as well.
"I love creating deep atmospheric mixes around dub techno, combining the classics from earlier days with the current releases, often seasoned with the dub reggae vibes, some broken beats, ambient non beat or other experimental electronic stuff - sometimes darker, sometimes lighter. At the end it's all about moods and feelings from moment to moment what flows into the present time."
Further Information on My Professional Background
a teacher, social worker, coach, and therapist - DJ - Music Producer in progress...
First and foremost, I can say this: I practice what I preach and pass on to others. My fundamental approach when working with people is based on my knowledge of nervous system states—a kind of language that our body uses to communicate with us and others. Empathy, appreciation, and co-regulation form the foundation of a trusting working relationship. I often see myself as a translator for embodied states and symptoms.
Symptoms always have a meaning, even if they feel unpleasant. The goal is always to develop toward greater safety and fulfillment, both internally and externally. What this means exactly is very individual and unique to each person.
Working through one's own issues and turning inward toward oneself is often the first step toward improving one's situation. A benevolent attitude toward oneself is one of the most crucial factors that can be developed in this process. And creativity can be a decisive catalyst.

We are all this...sometimes darker-sometimes lighter...
"For me, music has always been political. That doesn't mean checking every artist's mindset before I listen to or playing their music... And I am clear that it is important to focus on similarities in order to counteract all these divisions in our world. Nothing is ever just “bad” or just “good”. But - if I obviously know that a producer, artist, DJ is or was recently proclaiming inhumane and religious or political beliefs that make my stomach churn, no matter from which direction - then I won't support you, no matter how good your output is. This is my personal way of handle it.. .most of the time I can't keep my mouth shut then...feeling annoyed? Unfollow me please.
I distance myself from any extremist ideas and religious or political brainwashing ideas. As well as stigmatization of any kind. I do this to the best of my knowledge and belief."
