It's time for another MLD Mix by myself for some Moments Of Light 'n Darkness. This one is related to the spectrum I like to hear on that event "MLD goes live" what I want to build next Summer 2025 near Berlin. An event around facets of Dub in the spectrum dub - electronic - ambient - experimental from 80 to 140 bpm.

MLD No. 37 - from Dubwise to Dubspace again
Not so easy to present a follow up after these amazing guest mixes.... Anyway I will take the controls now for a next MLD mix, which is No. 37. And as I was insistently refered recently to remember the roots (of Dub)..I wanna take that serious in this selection, also inspired through some tracks I've discovered and get to know in the last time. MLD No. 34 - The Loco Glitch-Mixtape
And now for something completly different...
This is a mix I recorded a few days ago in March 2024 and I was listenting to it the whole weekend while I finished my decorations at my treasure island at Havelland. 🎆🖼️ It represents my mood in the moment and I decided, I wanna slap it out now in this moment when my mood is current and relevant to it. So I publish this one out of a row now, quiet quickly after my last MLD 33 what was a bit like a recap. So these two mixes has a connection to each other even though they are so different. And also comes from different gengres.
So how it came to this MLD 34: After some memories came back recently I had the feeling I wanna do something "real" with heavy guitar sounds, basslines and drums with big emotions and all of that - how I used to ... So I created this wild one in a classic mixtape style with some pieces you might not expect. And to make it a bit more fun, no tracklist. I call it "Loco Glitch - Mixtape" what feels like a suitable introduction. No joke, trust me, haha!
I have to say also that some ingredients in this selection are inspired from a recommended sauce of a dubhead fellow who gave me a hint to check out some things I didn't recognised yet in their full potentials. So thanks for that! (Maybe you remember when you might read this - this is the resuslt.)
When I was listening to this MLD No. 34 after I put things together it suprised me, that there can be found some, in my view typical "Sai" elements, which goes through my mixes no matter what it is. And these are: melancholia, hypnotic athmosphere, repeating sequences, bit weird stuff often with a bit fury plus ambivalent facets which get in touch and find new meanings in the context of the whole installement..simply light & darkness. Something I allways put my focus on. It feels good to me when music fulfill these criteria independently of the gengre. It calms and grounds me as I said often before. That's why I hate it when someone wants to talk to me when I'm listening to music, or even worse: people stand in front of me and talking all the while. I can be very serious then, I know that. So be careful, haha!

This is the BAD, an old closed swimming bath in the middle of Herrenhäuser Gärten in Hannover, Germany. My idea to take this picture as the cover of this mix came through the fact that one of my upcoming guest DJs on MLD is living in Hannover (surprise, who that's gonna be). And my relation to this is, that I grew up at a small town close to Hannover City.
The BAD in Herrenhausen was one of my favourite, or better say, it was my absolutely favourite club in Hannover. I used to start to go there with some of my friends when I was still at school. The DJs there introduced me to so much good indi stuff, like R.E.M., Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Violent Femmes, Primus, Fugazi, Wipers...of cause Einstürzende Neubauten, BAUHAUS, Joy Division, Ann Clark, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, Birthday Party and Nick Cave.. saw also so many great concerts there.. but forgot so many... I remember Blumfeld with Die Sterne, Alien Sex Fiend, Legendary Pink Dots....oh my, and what I also remember now: Crooklyn Dub Consortium! I was so happy when this concert was announced, after I just had grabbed their Album "Certified Dope Vol.1" - in 1995. That was around my first trip to Jamaica, can't even remember if it was before or after....Really a historical place for me this club.
MLD No. 33
This selection contains a melange of tracks from my first three mixes when I started to upload in public on SoundCloud in early Summer 2021. I had the feeling that I want to come back to this beginnings and set them in a different view after my following processing. So it is also a bit back and forth now - especially because it contains this remix of this Ann Clark track from Marc Romboy which has a straight connection to the start of my musical biography in my teens. Ann Clark was always such an impressing artist to me with her speech lyrics and actually "Our Darkness" was my hymn from her when I was in that age. I am very greatful I got in touch with such kind of indi stuff in that time - so serious and sad, I really felt that. Some things never change inside. It keeps it real, I guess.
A few more personal words about this mix.
I still was asking myself the last months again and again why I'm so intensively pursue all the musical developments that would have actually made much more sense when I was in my 20s and 30s. This question just won't let me go.
Basically, it feels as if something is operating within me that I cannot consciously control or influence. It just wants to come out. it's not an artistic process in the first place , even though it probably could have been one.
Rather, I am drawn to the depths, to the feelings of numbness and isolation within me. Giving them shape through music is what often happens while I’m creating my selections. Then I feel like I'm freeing them from their inner disconnection. And what is also interesting, when feelings come back, memories do also. Or let’s say, the fragmented feelings get in touch with memory splits what complets the whole picture like a puzzle more and more. Like a path what was lost and now I am finding my way back to it - finally! And with much useful life experiences and hopefully more awareness and consciousness.
What I realized is that I've basically always been in touch with these banished parts of myself through music, without consciously wanting to, because I wasn‘t aware of them at all! Since the age of 16, for example, I have felt very attracted to the band BAUHAUS with their singer Peter Murphy. And titles like Bela Lugosi's Dead, She's in Parties, Passion Of Lovers or A Spy in the Cab described my inner world in a pretty precise way that seems almost scary to me today. . Some of you know that I am trained in trauma therapeutic skills since 2015 and cultivate and practice these methods by myself and through the help of others continouisly. It contains also many mindful based practise and body focussed bottom up routines like inner imaginations and working with and get in touch with different ego states. In some spiritual schools one speak of recover inner soul parts. But I am not a friend of too much esoteric thinking, these things I’m doing and guiding others are pure neurobiological research of how the nervous system works and how we can find more inner peace and saftyness which leads to more health and joy – through more inner integrity. I go through this process by myself. My sensitivity and also my stability and self-regulated state was growing. And this goes hand in hand the last three years with my musical appearance. And this feels really magical to me!
I will continue – it will continue.

MLD No. 32
This mix is not very much state of the art and got some critical feedbacks because of the inconsistent transitions in it. So I was thinking about upload it at all or better delete it. At the end, I decided to embrace it on my Soundcloud as MLD No. 32 - actually BECAUSE of these inconsistencities and unperfectness. And of cause because I really love all the tracks it has inside with a wide range of diversity.
So, I found this mix important to keep and upload public because it reminds me of the fact that when you follow a creative process with a concept to express something in any way, it can not be the goal to be technically perfect. And this is a main thing for me: for me it's about feelings and also about feeling better by doing what I do - it's not about style!
The knowledge about minimal details comes with improving yourself ...what you only can get by doing it. So it's like make this trip transparent for you. Not to get approval or permit from somebody to do it rather just doing it - as another puzzle part of the whole process.
And I know my best mixes I made very often were a result by chance where everything in this moment was in a perfect flow, and some of the factors what made it possible came out of a subconscious space, I am convinced of that. But waiting for everything to go perfectly so that you can finally show yourself doesn't make any sense in my opinion. And long time I was waiting exactly for this....what kept me away from doing, and at the end of improving myself... Many many times I was thinking about where I could be today if I started 13 years ago and not 3 years ago in this serious way with this concsoius decision I'm doing it now. ...of course it makes no sense to think about it. ...makes me only bitter inside and angry about myself. I'm glad that I am able to work on these emotions and let them go. ...and maybe I had to be a master in that first to meet myself fully to express it in a musical way. Now is always the right time. Now or never. ...and it fits also to this day of going public here with this mix because it is an importent day for me because I get the keys for my second place at Westhavelland - what gonna be my creative space from now.

MLD No. 31
MDL No. 31 is a mixtape I created for my friend J.
J. is the kind of friend you won't be able to see for months or years because you both just live your lifes for a certain while as they happen. And when you see each other again, it's as if you had just seen oneanother yesterday. And what I also appreciate of those kind of friends: no blaming and no accusation like „Why haven't you contacted me ?“ Because of that I feel a deep connection, which I really value in my life.
But there's one thing that really stresses me out about our friendship: Every time we see each other, she has a little gift that she gives me. She just loves giving gifts to people she likes. And every time, of course, I don't have anything for her – oh no 🙄…because I somehow don't get such things right. And then I always immediately feel guilty and can't be happy about this attention because it gives me a feeling of my own inadequacy. Maybe also this feeling of not deserving it. And every time a feeling of shame arises within me. That's how it was the last time we saw us as well…and a short time after we met she also sent me something in the mail for Christmas. And I thought, that's enough for now... and I thought about making her a mixtape. As something to convey my appreciation to her. So I dedicated this mix for J. She‘s very sportive and doing a lot of running. I had a relaxed pace in my mind when I created it, like a set for a cool down or relaxing after workout and having a shower.
By the way, it's a spclnch focused selection. I've been meaning to do a mix for a long time using only tracks from them. I thought J. would like it.

When I upload something on my Soundcloud channel, you can be sure it is always with an idea that it may does something useful for the listener, too. Like calming or grounding a bit, come in a different mood, feeling touched, seen or recognised etc...Can relate to these ups and downs in this installement very much what this jam has assembled now.
The cover is a drawing by my son when he was at a younger age. Can't remember exactly how old...but he still was at primary school ...it was inspired by the Zendoodle style I had discovered for myself in that time..to calm myself...maybe a forerunner of this neurographic drawing, what is getting popular since a certain time...not the baddest thing in my view.

I loved to create this mix because it contains a few important stations of my musically development. I combined the reggae influenced dub vibes with some more technoid textures as the selection progresses further.
